The Green String Network's June 2024 newsletter highlights the progress and impact of their Kumekucha Quest movement, which aims to support and empower youth in Kenya through community-led social cohesion programs. The movement has made significant strides in formalizing partnerships, developing facilitator accreditation, and engaging with new partners in Nairobi.
The attached newsletter also features the participation of Kumekucha Quest in the United Nations Civil Society Conference 2024, successful community events organized by SambaSports and Akilimali, and the introduction of new interns. The newsletter emphasizes the importance of addressing chronic stress and trauma experienced by Kenyan youth and the transformative power of providing safe spaces for emotional well-being.
Key in our goal to scale the KQ program through out Kenya and East Africa, we are exploring the development of Diploma and Certificate programs in Applied Community Mental Health at Tangaza University College to further equip community leaders and other young people with practical skills to address mental health issues in the own communities, churches, mosques, and families.
