We would like to express our gratitude through this update to demonstrate how your support makes a difference.
Since your donation was made, we launched a new school visit campaign via our SMART Patrol teams. The aim is to introduce the importance of protecting the environment and wildlife to children living and studying inside the Nature Reserves we're working to protect. In our first round of campaigning, 85 kids were presented with activities and presentations and introduced to conservation concepts. The hope is these kids will also take the message back to their families and become the next generation of hope.
While we increased our SMART Patrols by training 5 new team members, we also conducted capacity evaluation for 24 pre-existing local community patrol members. The capacity evaluation is to assess the performance of the smart patrol team and the achievements each team has achieved. It helps us develop our patrol methods to improve the capacity of the smart team.
20 individuals were involved in socialisation training. The purpose of socialisation is to help the public recognise which wild plants and animals are protected by law and aims to deter poaching.
As our approach is holistic, we'd also like to give a brief update on our wider programs which connect with our SMART Program. This year, a total of 189 farmers have been trained in organic farming with 36 new farmers participating in the last quarter. Through this program and since your donation was made, 712.2 kg of vegetables have been harvested.
We have also registered 92 people to join our literacy program and we've enrolled 18 people from the village of Engkangin to participate in our health teams.
If you have any questions, you are more than welcome to contact us via email. For frequent updates, come join the movement on our social media pages, Facebook, Instagram and YouTube.
From all of us at Planet Indonesia, we give our heartfelt thanks and hope you'll continue to support our mission.
