Thank You For Helping Us End Period Poverty and Keep Girls In School
‘UNICEF has estimated that roughly 1 in 10 girls in Africa miss school because of their periods each year.’ - Global Citizen
In 2024, zero girls at Maunga and Janeiro Primary Schools in Zambia missed school thanks to your support and contribution towards eliminating barriers to education, including period poverty. We provided sanitary pads to ensure these girls could attend school without interruption. This support contributed to a significant increase in pass rates - Maunga's rose from 48% to 55%, while Janeiro's soared to 85%.
Our 2025 mission is even bolder: to eliminate period poverty across all our partner schools, expanding our efforts to Mambanje and Mangwara Primary Schools in Zimbabwe.
You can help us end period poverty in Zimbabwe by donating sanitary pads to keep girls in school!
The Vukani Group: Empowering Women Through Craft
The Vukani Group is a community of women that your donations support, who create handcrafted jewelry such as necklaces, bracelets, napkin rings, and home décor from recycled magazines and paper. Their work transforms everyday items that are typically discarded into beautiful, one-of-a-kind pieces.
"Vukani," meaning "wake up" in IsiZulu, reflects the mission of this initiative and serves as a powerful call to action, motivating these women to empower themselves, their families, and their communities.
“With these things we are making our money, that is how we make our living ” - Esinart Mbhena, Vukani Group Member
Thank you for supporting Esinart and her community through investing in their business.
Meet Bae: The Female Guide Leading The Way
"My name is Bae, and I work as a female guide with African Bush Camps. I was lucky through the African Bush Camps Foundation to be sponsored to be a female guide. They put me through camps for training, and now I am here guiding. What led me into guiding is that I like challenges. I have seen that guiding is a male-dominated field, and I decided to break the dominance by becoming a guide. I am happy that I have succeeded, and I am here as a female guide.
I would like to see myself as an inspiration and mentor to other women guides.

Your generous giving is helping to training and employ future guides like Bae, thank you for being part of the impact!
