Inclusion and Diversity in ChemEd

We are thrilled to share with you the latest update on our activities at Clubes de Ciencia México. Your generous support has allowed us to continue providing impactful educational experiences to vulnerable populations and marginalized communities.

We implemented a special program aimed at teaching science with diversity and inclusion in mind. The program comprised STEM workshops that catered to the unique needs of each group, to inspire curiosity and interest in science among these often-underrepresented audiences.

Thanks to your support, we could conduct almost 60 additional hours of workshops in chemistry, impacting the lives of 300 individuals from diverse backgrounds, including indigenous girls and boys, people with autism, Down syndrome, motor and/or auditory impairments, and children and teens with socioeconomic marginalization.

The success of our program is proof of the dedication of our students and instructors, who worked tirelessly to design engaging and accessible content. Interactive demonstrations and hands-on activities were used to promote a fun and immersive learning experience, with participants encouraged to ask questions and explore the world of science at their own pace.

We are immensely grateful for your ongoing support, which enables us to provide these valuable educational experiences to those who need them most. Your donations will continue to bring more science and quality education to Mexican youth and other equally important audiences. It will also allow all people who take part and benefit from our programs to continue doing so for free.

Clubes de Ciencia Mexico 2022

The mission of the Clubes de Ciencia México (CdeCMx) team is to expand access to science education of the highest quality and motivate the next generation of scientists, technologists, and innovators in the country through intensive courses in various STEM areas and the creation of networks of international talent.

CdeCMx was born in 2014, and throughout these eight years of operations, we have developed an educational model that combines face-to-face and distance education. Our main program is the Clubes de Ciencia (Science Clubs), which consists of intensive courses aimed at middle and high school students on various science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) topics.

In 2022 we returned to face-to-face activities under a hybrid model with thirty Clubs (courses) taught in 9 cities. Different academic activities complemented the Clubs, such as an online webinar on how to apply to postgraduate programs abroad, a workshop on how to assemble and use the origami microscope Foldscope, and a seminar on our carbon footprint to raise awareness among our participants about our environment. Additionally, integration activities included two sports rallies and ten science cafes where students could interact directly with instructors and learn from their experiences as scientists.
