50 cleft surgeries will be performed in November 2011, following our successful mission last year. Help us give a new life to children born with cleft palates.
Every year 150,000 Bangladeshi children are born with cleft lip and palates, but surgery is very expensive and there are only 10 trained cleft surgeons in the country. Most of these unfortunate children live their lives in shame - unable to eat properly, talk, go to school and taunted by many. Many children are abandoned at birth by their parents. A simple surgery can change the life of a child forever. Please sponsor a child to lead a better life.
48 successful surgeries were conducted at Hope's charitable hospital in Bangladesh in 2010. Another mission will take place this year. The surgeries will be offered free to the poor and will include follow-up care and rehabilitation.
The life of a child is changed forever, enabling a shunned child to gain an education, acceptance and the ability to smile. The family no longer feels burdened with a child that cannot grow up to marry, work or be a productive member of society.
