Bonjou GlobalGiving Family,
It has been quite an amazing first quarter for C2C and we are happy to share with you the status of where we are and what we are planning for the rest of 2019 with our Partner Community. When we last left you, we shared a firsthand account of a family who received one of the first 15 latrines of Phase 2 of our Latrine Initiative. We are at a total of 85 latrines for 85 families, all of which are fully functional and running efficiently. We also mentioned in our last report that our community is interested in starting a trade school now that the community’s health, especially the children, has and continues to improve. Since the community’s proposal, we have been communicating with potential leads in the education industry in the areas of teacher training, school construction and securing teachers for the trades requested by the community. We are also in communication with potential partners for women’s micro-lending training. For our Peasant Association, their request has been to receive leadership training, which we are in the process of planning for the end of the year with one of our in-country partners to facilitate. Our goal is to help the community construct another 15 latrines by the end of 2019. To date, with the help of the GlobalGiving community and our C2C Neighbors, we have raised $6,000 towards our $12k goal. As the saying the goes, “slow and steady wins the race”. We know that as we continue this steady pace of working with our Partner Community, they will win the race to creating a healthier and more educated community. This is Sustainable Development in action.
