20 thousand trees Chimpa Alccasana Forest-Photographs

By Maria Varela | Plant Your Forest Program Director

20 thousand trees Chimpa Alccasana Forest

Pichigua-Cusco

The Chimpa Alccasana Forest of 20,000 trees was made possible thanks to the donations received and the teamwork of the farming families and Pachamama Raymi.

Pachamama Raymi is one of the most innovative and successful projects to eradicate poverty. Its purpose is to break the vicious circle of environmental degradation and rural poverty, enabling communities and peasant families to improve their living conditions and manage their natural resources in a sustainable way.

In the community of Chimpa Alccasana, the axis of the methodology associated with forestation was implemented with the peasant families of the community. Working to break the vicious circle of environmental degradation and rural poverty, introducing sustainable management of natural resources. Where the rural population leads its development, based on its creativity and vital capacities; and where knowledge is managed, with emphasis on the (re)valorization of those present in the people themselves and their massification with exchange between peers.

With much enthusiasm and joy, the rural families took care of the plants from the nursery, watched them grow, and waited for the arrival of the rainy season, in order to begin loading and transporting them to the final site of the plantation. It is a celebration to plant the trees, to share, to smile, it is a totally festive atmosphere for the families and for the Pachamama.
