At Vision Center International (VCI) the months of August and early September have been quite challenging. Being a Texas based organization, we witnessed the devastation of Hurricane Harvey first hand. However, in the midst of the despair, hopelessness, and confusion, people and organizations came together and bonded in unity with one voice to reach out to communities and families to show support and love. The outpouring of support and assistance has been encouraging. For some, it will take weeks, months even years to rebuild, but it helps to know that there are people and organizations out there that are ready and willing to show love and encouragement through the provision of resources both financial and in kind to help affected people and communities rebuild.
It is with pride that VCI acknowledges that we are connected with GlobalGiving and its initiative to assist the people of Texas. The GlobalGiving Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund is a much-needed drive which emphasizes the people – oriented goal and vision of GlobalGiving. VCI has contributed our widow’s mite to the GlobalGiving Harvey Fund. We urge everyone to donate to the GlobalGiving Hurricane Harvey Fund as soon as possible.
At VCI we took time off our usual activities and joined other local groups and initiatives and volunteered our time as much as we could to assist the communities and people that were affected. In the midst of the challenges, we were able to meet new people and initiate new friendships for our common goal, that is being a blessing to others in their time of need.
Our hearts go to the people of Florida and neighboring states and the communities already hit by Hurricane Irma, our prayers are with you all.
