It's been a busy and very, very hot summer here, in Macedonia!
Temperatures were the hottest that they have been in 100 years - with a couple of weeks in July that reached 102-107F (40-42C) in our little village.
We are doing well, at The JOY Home. We received word from the licensing committee that they have accepted all of our additional administrative paperwork and will be contacting us THIS WEEK to set up a tour of The JOY Home (either next week or the first week of September). We can't wait!
After the tour, we should receive our license and begin working with the children. I can't believe it! It has been several years of work, training, sweat, and tears toget to this point. We are so thankful for you, our supporters, who continue to walk this road with us.
There are 7 children that have already been chosen, by the orphanage director, to start the program at The JOY Home. We can't wait to see them!
We have a team ready to work with each child, to support them through individualized care and a plan that will be specific to their needs, challenges, and opportunities for growth/healing!
This is a short report, as we wait for the next steps, but the email is sure to be a long one! There will be so much to tell you as we begin. We are hopeful that the Delta strand of Covid will not pause our progress. Schools are set to start on September 1, in Macedonia, and the government has already added new restrictions to try and curb the virus. Thankfully, we have all gotten our vaccinations, and are ready to work with the special needs orphans, and will take every precaution available to keep the children healthy and happy!
We will write again soon!
