So much progress has been made!

The JOY Home

Hi there friends of Lighthouse!

We are so excited to tell you about the progress that has been made on The JOY Home and our work to give trauma-informed care to orphans in Macedonia.

Here is a quick update:

1)  We have a team hard at work translating all of the Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) training materials into the Macedonian language, so we can begin offering training to caregivers of children without parents here in Macedonia.

2)  The JOY Home is finished!  In October, we completed the Heating for The JOY Home project, which provided a pellet heater, water heater, and all of the necessary pipes and equipment, as well as the labor involved to have the equipment installed.  That was the last major step before we can open the home for children.

3)  We are now ready to meet with the director of orphanages and group homes in Bitola, to speak with her about opening The JOY Home as a Day Center for orphans with special needs.  At The JOY Home, they will receive physical therapy, learn healthy attachment, and enjoy play therapies in a home atmosphere.  We can't wait to get started!

We are continuing to work through the COVID crisis in Macedonia (and around the world), and are hopeful that we will be able to provide care for the children, in spite of the current pandemic.  Please follow our Facebook page (Lighthouse of Hope MK) for up-to-date information about this, and other, projects we have for special needs orphans in Macedonia.

Thank you so much for your encouragement and financial support. It takes all of us, together, to make this dream possible!

Happy Holidays to you and yours!

Best Regards -

Jen Naskov
