Showing Up for Migrant Farmworkers

By Stephanie Alvarez | Director of Development

Sunny Fridays are for community stress relief!
Sunny Fridays are for community stress relief!

Dear Friend,

For the past few months the CARE collective has been focusing most of our attention and resources in Watsonville, CA where we have continued to provide monthly clinics to the Oaxacan farmworker population in the area. In partnership with the Center for Farmworker Families, we have been able to provide free stress relief acupuncture treatments, as well as chiropractic and massage therapy services to over 100 farmworkers. The community interest in accessing these services has been bigger than we expected, with lines forming, leading us to bring in some extra volunteer practitioners to help.

It has been wonderful to see the community support that this project has had so far. However, in order to maintain it we need to find ways to continue providing services. You are an essential part of this and can get involved in many ways:

- Donate on our GlobalGiving page

- Become a recurring donor on our GlobalGiving page

- Share this project with your friends and family

- If you are an acupuncturist in California, become a volunteer with us!

There are so many ways to make a drifference in the life of people that currently have no state entity to turn to or a solid support system to rely on. It is more important than ever to stand in solidarity with our farmworker communities and build support networks so that we can all advocate for better living conditions and equitable access to health care for the people that grow the food of this nation.

In the spirit of service,

The AWB Team
