CARE - Community Alliance for Resilience & Equity

Colectivo CARE, made up of Integrative Healers Action Network (IHAN), Livity Rising, and Acupuncturists Without Borders (AWB), continues to do amazing work and provided 400 more treatments to the farmworker community in just the last three months!

It is due to the incredible dedication of our staff, volunteers and community partners that allows us to continue to support and further expand our work for the farmworker community. All of our clinics are free of charge and farmworkers and their families are able to choose between chiropractic, massage, acupuncture, ear seeds or any combination of the above.

80% of farmworkers and their families report significant reductions in both their pain levels and the stress they suffer as a result of these treatments. We are so grateful to the skills of our practitioners to be able to provide this care to those who work so hard for the selection of fruits, vegetables and nuts on our tables.

Farmworkers and their families experience inadequate nutrition, terrible living conditions and limited health insurance - the same workers who produce 1/3 of the vegetables, 2/3 of the fruits and nuts and 90% of all strawberries grown in the United States. The least we can do is to provide some relief for the pain and stress farmworkers and their families endure - just to ensure food is on our tables. 

And they deserve our continued support and so much more!

Since 2021, the CARE collaborative (Colectivo CARE), made up of Livity Rising, Integrative Healers Action Network (IHAN) and Acupuncturists Without Borders (AWB), has delivered 5000 treatments to the farmworker community. It is the awe-inspiring dedication of our staff, volunteers and community partners which led to this wonderful accomplishment. Farmworkers and their families choose between chiropractic, massage, acupuncture, ear seeds or any combination of the above which are provided free of charge.

This combination of therapies work -  80% of farmworker families report significant reductions in both pain and stress. We are grateful that we are able to provide this care for such a deserving community! 

These therapies are necessary because the farmworker community suffer as a result of inadequate nutrition, terrible living conditions and no health insurance. The average life expectancy of a migrant farmworker is 49 years of age. In Northern California, the farmworker community experienced even more challenges over the past year. The same workers who produce 1/3 of the vegetables, 2/3 of the fruits and nuts and 90% of all strawberries grown in the United States also experienced loss of work due to the extreme weather, financial stress and the destruction of their homes due to the Pajaro levee break. (Statistics provided by the Center for Farmworker Families)
