Challenge Camp: Better Life for Children

This summer, the kids from Iro-Iro Children's Home spent five days and four nights of nature adventure trip – A biking summer camp held by the Mustard Seed Vocational Training Team in Hualien. It was full of love and bravery! Taking train from Tainan to Hualien is a long journey, children are chatting in the car.

Xiaolong, "Teacher, I'm looking forward to this summer camp, this is my first trip to Hualien.”

Jiajia, "I like to ride the bike the most, I enjoy the cool wind while riding.”

SiSi, "I'm a bit worried because I'm not good at cycling, what should I do?”

Xiaoyan responded, "Don't worry, we're all here to help you.”

On the train, every kid was talking about their expectation and imagination of this journey. The whole train was full of laughter.

In the afternoon, the sun shines on the green grass and asphalt road. When we arrived at the camp, it was about 2 pm. So we started the group activities. We built team and understanding through games. For the cycling tour in the third and fourth day, the camp leader decided to let everyone try to ride their bike. Through guidance and instructions, the children started asking all kinds of questions about the tour and biking. By asking and answering the questions, it not only improves children's ability to communicate and expression, but also see the pattern of how they react when they encounter problems.

Vulnerable children bear with negative emotions and life experiences, and most time they don't know how to deal with it wisely. Through camping, they are able to express and understand themselves through try and error under a safe and interesting circumstance.
