Phanna's Rise
As a young man in Cambodia, Phanna's father survived a vicious blast from a landmine, and so he struggled to provide for his family as a disabled farmer. Later, when Phanna was a boy, his mother tragically died from heart disease.
His father was unable to support all of the children, so Phanna spent the remainder of his childhood living and studying at a child rescue center, where he studied diligently. When Phanna finished high school, he took the national exam and scored in the top 0.4% of all students in Cambodia. Incredible!
Because of his exceptional academic record, Phanna received a four-year scholarship to study Social Policy and Development at a university in Thailand, where CWEF continued to support his living expenses so that he could focus on his studies and complete his education.
Phanna Today
This year, Phanna graduated with honors for having the highest possible GPA! He is now the proud owner of a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Policy and Development. Before he graduated, Phanna joined a special project that is working to close the socio-economic gaps in education between urban and rural areas of Cambodia.
And a few months ago he began his career working for a nonprofit with a mission to expand educational opportunities for all children in Cambodia. Phanna also regularly comes back to provide guidance and support for the next generation of CWEF University Scholars.
I know you must be as proud of Phanna as we are! Your faithful prayers and generous financial support helped him to develop and grow into the impressive young man he is today. Thank you so much!!
