Our new headquarters for the Casa de los Dones program will double the current population being served, to 50 boys, who have been victims of abuse, mistreatment and in street life conditions. In the 2755 square feet constructed, we will continue to provide health services, education, and overall well-being. The construction has been divided into two phases; we are in need of founding the construction of the 2nd phase which will be devoted to spaces for the physical and mental health of our boys.
Cartagena de Indias faces a severe poverty crisis, with 60.2% of the population living below the poverty line. Over 250 children face physical, sexual, and child labor-related abuse, denying them their rights. The Casa de los Dones program aims to provide a safe environment for 50 children, offering psychosocial, educational, and health care services. The program aims to transform the lives of these boys, enabling them to overcome the consequences of abuse and poverty.
We will provide a safe home to 50 boys in street life situation, where they will receive housing, nutritional recovery, quality education, psychosocial services, family unification, rehabilitation, medical care, recreation and development of their talents, with the purpose of transforming their lives and raising a new generation that will positively impact the society. Families will receive guidance and support throughout the process with therapy, rehabilitation, and psychosocial interventions.
Our goal is to reunite the boys with their families. Our new headquarters will provide a supportive environment for healing, education and health, enabling the boys to overcome abuse and exploitation. The process will also strengthen the family unit by restoring rights and improving living conditions. The new headquarters will help the boys to develop autonomy and skills, reduce the likelihood of returning to vulnerable situations and ensure a dignified and violence-free future for our boys.
