Thanks to your kindhearted support of the The Wild Animal Sanctuary's GlobalGiving project, "Build Habitats for Rescued Lions, Tigers, & Bears", we have been able to continue our important mission of rescuing captive-bred large carnivores from situations of abuse and neglect, provide them with large-acreage habitats, and educate the public of their plights and the Captive Wildlife Crisis. None of this would be possible without people like you! For that, we are eternally grateful.
We'd like to regularly keep you updated with the goings-on at the Refuge, and how your donation has made a difference in the Animals' lives. Since our last emailed update, there have been a number of new occurences, including the construction of multiple "smaller" habitats ranging in size of 18 to 20 acres each.
These habitats are located between our large 243-acre Black Bear habitat and Alpaca barn, and are specifically designed to house rescued wolves. With natural topography such as trees, grass, water, and rocks, it's all that a wolf could dream of. These habitats offer space to introduce pairs to each other, and cultivate wolf packs. The first 11 wolves to call these habitats home have come from the failed GW Zoo, where they were kept in mostly pairs and as individuals. Thus, they will slowly be introduced into a pack, and live a lifestyle they were inteded to. Wolves are not meant to live alone or in pairs, and the Refuge aims to introduce them to their natural ways and provide them with a life of happiness.
There is so much more we'd love to share with you, so to learn more about the 11 rescued wolves (as well as many other exciting updates about TWAS and TWAR), please visit the link below to read our Spring 2021 Newsletter! Thank you again for your generosity and love for the Animals.
