Dear friend
I am now not daring to get too excited; for the process all seems endless, but we are so close now to getting permission to go ahead with the Zvamaida project.
With all the economic woes in Zimbabwe and the Covid 19 lock-down, we have had a 'perfect storm' this year. After the lock-down was mainly lifted in Zimbabwe, we had to go about repricing our plans, as frankly we had no idea any longer of what the costs would be, taking into account the currency and rampant inflation in the country.
That has all now been done, and although costs are generally higher in US Dollar terms, we are calculating that we will get the three classroom blocks built and the library as well.
Our report on all of this has now gone into Rotary Foundation for their approval. In addition to funds raised on the GlobalGiving platform a substantial amount has been raised by Rotary Clubs and being matched either partly, or in full, by Rotary International Foundation. As you may know the Rotary Foundation make huge donations to projects every year around the world for humanitarian needs in such things as education, fighting disease, providing clean water, sanitation and hygiene, and other things including the campaign to eradicate polio from the world.
There are of course ongoing things that will need funding such as a new water borehole, water harvesting and clothing for school uniforms and sports equipment for the children, which will take time to raise the money.
The children of Zvamaida School will benefit hugely from this investment in the infrastructure for their school, and we hope the first classroom will now only be a month or so away from being built.
Thank you so much for your financial help to achieve where we are now. We are not there yet, but I would like once more to take this opportunity of thanking everyone for their support.
Very best wishes
Danny
