Dear Donor
Thank you for supporting this project. The aim is to give families more choices for themselves and their children, by enabling them to generate more income. However, chicken farming requires 9-12 months to generate a recurring income. As we want to become operative as soon as possible, we decided to start project activities despite the fact that we have not yet reached full funding.
The current activities focus on preparing for field work. If everything goes to plan, the first families will get their initial breeding stock of laying hens and a rooster on April 23. Once we see the first breeding success we keep you informed with an updated report.
What has happened up to now:
In January and February, the CFI project team in Battambang, our local partner, held the required meetings with local authorities. This is an essential step to select the families that will become “chicken farmers” as well as to gear up technical support from the Department of Agriculture. We are optimistic that by the end of March, all this preparation work will be completed and the first families can soon start breeding.
Funding: We have not yet reached our target funding of 10’000$, but enough for starting. Over the next months, more donations will come in and support the next project steps. Please use the opportunity of Gobal Giving’s the “Liitle by Little” campaign April 3 - 7. Any donation up to 50$ to our project “Build a small business for families in Cambodia” will be matched (=doubbled) by GlobalGiving! A great way to make your donation help even more!
Project reports on GlobalGiving are posted directly to globalgiving.org by Project Leaders as they are completed, generally every 3-4 months. To protect the integrity of these documents, GlobalGiving does not alter them; therefore you may find some language or formatting issues.
