Back to school in Kiruru!

Dear supporters (old and new),

We have another exciting report this time following the completion of the first classroom, as we now have classes of pupils attending classes!

Firstly, we have pictures of the school in full operation, following the construction of the first classroom being completed and the school being given a qualified teacher by the authorities. The teacher’s office has now also been completed, which has been a fantastic resource for the new primary school teacher on site. This room is also connected to the small solar system we installed in the village, meaning that the teacher can work until later on in the evening due to access to lighting and charging facilities.

Your generous donations help us continue to support the development of the school- but our work here is not yet done. Due to the increase of class sizes, the community needs support to build a second classroom to accommodate the growing number of pupils.

We are also raising money in order to build a house for the primary school teacher’s at the school in Kiruru. Currently, the school teacher has to commute to Kiruru daily via motorcycle from another village. The community in Kiruru currently has to cover these transportation costs, and often the teacher is unable to reach Kiruru due to heavy rain making the roads impassable. Having a teachers’ house would save this cost and would also be able to accommodate two teachers’ families once the second classroom is built. This would save the community money, and also guarantee that the children in Kiruru will have consistent access to education.

Your support will continue to boost the growth of the primary school in Kiruru, which has made a huge amount of progress since the start of this project. As ever, sharing this project on social media and within your personal network would be hugely beneficial to give it the publicity it needs and deserves.

We’re excited to share even more progress in the coming months!

All the best,

Iona
