Build 10 Roofs + Train 10 Carpenters in PuertoRico

The case of Rosa Ayala reached us through a community leader from the Metropolitan area of Puerto Rico. Rosa, a 74-year-old woman, had suffered significant damage to her roof due to Hurricane Maria.

During the reconstruction process, our team identified the urgent need to install a balcony in Rosa's house. She expressed her concern that the lack of a safe structure posed a danger to both herself and her beloved dog.  

Our mission at PRoTechos goes beyond simply providing a safe roof; we aim to create environments where families feel protected and comfortable. The construction of the balcony was made possible thanks to the generous donations received through GlobalGiving. This need was not included in our initial budget for roof reconstruction, which is limited. Without the additional funds, we would not have been able to make this important improvement.

With the funds received, we were able to build a sturdy and safe balcony for Rosa's house, ensuring that both she and her dog are safe from falls and accidents.  

Today, Rosa lives with the peace of mind of having a safe roof over her head and a protected balcony that offers her greater security in her home. Her gratitude is immense, and it motivates us to continue working with the same commitment and dedication to help more families in similar situations.
