The 2022 creation of The Before I Die Wall was a success. It was received well by the local community both Spanish and English-speaking visitors. The attached article was publishing in the Lake Chapala Society monthly magazine called Conneciones the Jan 2023 issue. The published in print and digital forms. It was written and edited by Loretta Downs who is the original spark that started the idea for a Before I die wall In Ajijic Mexico. Loretta approached the Escuela de Artes Industriales (Have Hammer Will Travel A.C woodworking school in August 2022 to help create the wall. It was first designed to be made out of wood, It was realized the longevity of wood was short a few years. Loreta envisioned the project to be long term, The students designed the wall to be made of metal. Metal allowed the design to be larger, with longevity and the cost just about 15% more than wood. It worked and was designed, painted and stenciled on time, for the local Mexican Day of the dead event at the end of October 2022.
