Our Commitment to Chinchero, Peru

By Daniel Carolan | Development Associate

Slowly but steadily we have inched our way towards our stated goal. Today we are only $4,467 away from the goal of $55,000 that was set in 2020. The Ayni Relief Fund started as a response to how the Indigenous community in Chinchero, Peru, were badly affected by Covid-19. Prevention measures and help from the government were absent which led to dire food shortages. On top of this, 80% of the community relied on Peru’s tourist industry, which came to a complete halt.

With your help, our fund was able to jumpstart a new way of life for families in Chinchero. Since then we have helped to revive traditional agricultural businesses, build new homes, buy food, medicine and warm clothes for the children and the elderly. We have also helped provide electronic devices and internet antennas so that children can access online education offered by the government.

The impact of tourism on small indigenous communities in Peru has had both positive and negative effects. By supporting our Ayni Relief Fund, you will help an ancient society return to sustainable and traditional ways of life.

Please help 3 Generations reach our goal of $55,000 by making a gift through GlobalGiving today. Your help will go a long way in Peru.
