AVP WORKSHOP FOR STUDENTS IN RWANDA

Let us work together to build a culture of peace

By Donatien NDIZEYE | M&E Leader

The Alternative to Violence Program (AVP) is a transformative, hands-on training initiative designed to equip participants with the skills and tools to address violent conflicts constructively and creatively. It fosters nonviolent approaches, empowering individuals to mitigate and resolve conflicts in positive ways.

In Rwanda, secondary schools face numerous forms of violent conflict, including bullying, physical altercations, and verbal abuse, which hinder student's academic and social development.

Addressing these issues is critical to creating safer learning environments. The AVP has proven to be an effective solution for equipping students with the skills to manage conflict and build peaceful communities.

The program aims to be implemented in secondary schools across Rwanda, focusing on areas with the highest rates of violence. Activities will include training sessions, follow-ups, and evaluation to measure the program's impact.

Challenges

Due to insufficient funding, the program has yet to commence. Financial constraints have limited the ability to organize workshops, train facilitators, and provide materials necessary for the program.

Call to Action

We are appealing to donors, well-wishers, and organizations to support this initiative financially. your contributions will help:

  • Organize workshops for 300 students.
  • Train facilitators and peer mediators.
  • Provide training materials and resources for the program.

Conclusion

The Alternative to Violence Program is a vital initiative to address the pressing issue of violence in schools. By empowering students with nonviolent conflict resolution skills, we can foster a peaceful learning environment that promotes growth and development. Your support is crucial in making this vision a reality.

Happy New Year!

Let us work together to build a culture of peace and understanding among the youth of Rwanda.
