Dear Friends,
We are proud and excited to share with you that we are moving into a new location where we will be able to serve even more children! In fact, our CEO, Laura Larkin, is in Barlad right now to share in the excitement. It was unexpected that we had just 60 days to find a new space and relocate as the landlord was selling our existing location. However, this is turning out to be a blessing in disguise as we have the opportunity to grow and increase the number of children. We will be able to have a separate room now for our youngest children, many of whom are on the autism spectrum.
One of the other things we wanted to share with you is an introduction to Andi! Andi is a young man who is 21 years old. He has been volunteering with us for some time now and has wanted so much to get a job. There are few opportunities for him here in Barlad and knowing how much potential Andi has, we were hoping to be able to pay him for his work. We have started Andi working twice a week for a few hours each day and hope to increase to three as soon as we have funding. Andi is not only assisting with homework help as needed but is working with our Wellness Director in maintaining our space indoors and out! He is so proud!!!
The need is so great here in Vaslui County, in so many ways. We now have several children traveling from villages up to an hour away to attend Delia's Center for Special Needs Kids. Thanks to your support, this is possible. If you would like to join us in expanding our work to more kids and in ensuring that Andi can have a job, please follow the links as you can continue to contribute to this project!
Below are photos of our renovation in progress. We weren't expecting to have the added expense of renovations but our lease is longer term and we know that we are creating a wonderful space for the children to thrive.
Best,
Lauren
