ATP SCHOOLS FIRST AID CARE PROJECT

Ask The Paediatricians Foundation continues to reach more schools with our First Aid Care Project School Outreaches reaching 11 new schools in total this quarter.  In addition some State Chapters - Lagos and Kwara celebrated the May 2024 Children's Day with Community Medical Outreaches.

We hope you enjoy reading the snippets from our various State Chapters and more importantly we look forward to you suporting us to reach more schools in the year. Our long term goal is to reach every school in Nigeria in the next few years.

Kwara State Chapter

ATP Kwara celebrates the Children's Day Outreach on the 25th May 2024 at the Children's Day Outreach held at Gaa-Ajanaku, Ilorin. At the outreaches, we did free medical and dental consultations, provide free drugs and hold a mini party in celebration of the Children's Day.

In addition, the Kwara team visited four schools for the First Aid Care School Outreaches: Odota Junior Secondary School Ilorin on the 26th June 2024; Jooro Junior Secondary School Ilorin on the 3rd July, 2024; St Clare's Anglican Girls Grammar School, Offa on the 10th July 2024 and GaaOdota Junior Secondary School on the 10th July 2024. At the Schools, we shared our FAC cards and demonstrated various First Aid care techniques to the students.

Ekiti State Chapter

ATP Ekiti State Chapter visited two schools in May 2024 - Banji Akintoye College Ado-Ekiti on the 25th May 2024 and Hardin Model College Ado Ekiti on the 31st May 2024. They shared the ATP FAC booklets to the students, gave the FAC calendars to the teachers in addition to the health talk on First Aid to the staff and students.

Delta State Chapter 

ATP Delta State Chapter visited Alegbo Secondary School on the 29th May 2024. They shared the ATP FAC booklets to the students, gave the FAC calendars to the teachers in addition to the health talk and demonstration of some First Aid Care technique to the staff and students.

Akwa Ibom State Chapter 

Our Akwa Ibom State Chapter continues their FAC School Outreach in the State by visiting The Apostolic High school, Esit Urua, Eket LGA of Akwa Ibom State on the 30th May 2024. The ATP team gave the school an health talk on First Aid Care in addition to sharing the FAC materials as memoir aide.

Enugu State Chapter

The Enugu State Chapter held their FAC School Outreach at Girls High School Idaw River in Enugu State in May 2024. They shared the ATP FAC booklets to the students, gave the FAC calendars to the teachers in addition to the health talk on First Aid to the staff and students.

Lagos State Chapter

ATP Lagos did their 2024 Children's Day Outreach in Iju Ishaga in June 2024. It was an opportunity to give back to the children and families in the communities via free medical consultations, free essential drugs, laboratory tests and refreshments for the children. In addition to the Community Medical Outreach, Lagos State also visited Iwerekun Community Senior High School for the First Aid Care Outreach in July 2024.

FCT Abuja 

ATP Abuja visited another secondary school in the FCT with the FAC Outreach on the 3rd July 2024 sharing the ATP FAC booklets to the students and the calendars to the teachers.

We are gradually coming to the end of the first year of our ATP Schools project and have reached 47 secondary schools all together distrubuting more than 110,000 First Aid Care booklets.We would however need funding and partnerships to reach more secondary schools in the next few years.
