As you know, the heart of UMPO is to change worlds through local knowledge and traditional crafts, so this month we organized a meeting to discuss the situation of children and youth in our region.
We have been able to experience that one way to confront the exposure of children and adolescents to violence in the region is to create safe learning spaces, safe spaces for them to share their passions, and fears and above all to transmit the joy of living in our territory.
There was the participation of more than 75 children and adolescents, who lived experiences of theater, dance, and cinema, all adapted to our community and culture. We also had presentations that allowed us to discuss the situation that impacts the younger generations, which is reflected in the rates of violence. Presentations to talk about intergenerational bonds and how we exchange knowledge among our families.
We want to look at ourselves as caregivers, teachers, and managers so that we recognize ourselves and can create networks to do more. We want to think together about how we can lengthen the black thread of this situation in our community and think about how we can share these initiatives with other regions since this situation affects not only our region but our whole country.
Thanks to your support we will be able to create a new meeting, where we dream of bringing together the projects led in the region dedicated to the education and care of children and adolescents.
To create better worlds for them, we need to gather many efforts. Thanks to you! Let's find inspiration in this poem.
If I could summon our children's
games
I would call all the birds we were once
I would tell them to fly higher so that no one would ever
catch our dreams.
