Celebrating Patricia on International Womens Day

By Doris Darkwah | Director

Dear Friends,

Its  Women’s month and we at ABAN are celebrating our women. We are celebrating their hard work and commitment to overcome the hassles of life in other not to remain in poverty. We are also celebrating their journeys through the years in training.

We are featuring in this report Patricia.

Patricia joined the ABAN program in 2015 as a single mother with no skills and making a living on the money she made from selling oranges on head pans, just before ABAN transitioned to Ghana. She was part of 16 girls with similar stories, who were given the opportunities to learn a new skill of their choice with the hopes of being independent financially, and so that she can improve her standard of living and that of her son and family. For two years, she mastered the art of decorating and graduated last as a professional. She has also been very active in our business development programs, as she learns how to manage a shop by herself.

Her dream has been to own her own shop and train other women who are also less fortunate and because of you and the support of a student group, she is just about to realize that dream with a seed amount of 1600 pounds. In the next two months, we will be setting Patricia up with a fully furnished shop, giving her the head start she needs so she can be the @fabricofchange we have waited to see. After all, at ABAN, that’s what we do.

The girls could benefit from such investments . And so we ask that you continue to support us. Here are ways you can do that;

  • Start a fund raiser
  • Buy our products and recommend us to shops to carry ABAN products and conferences to let ABAN sew for them
  • Sponsor a girl
  • Tell your friends about ABAN
  • Donate here

Follow our social media pages for more updates and sond us an email with your questions.

Let us continue to #pressforprogress as is the theme for this years International Women’s Day, for all women the world over.
