It was a beautiful Festival!

By Maricarmen Valdivieso | Founder and Director

Hello everyone!

I want to start this message by apologising for sending this email now. However, it is never too late to thank you for your support to this initiative and to celebrate this accomplishment of our partners from Puckllay, an organization led by the wonderful Peruvian female artist, Anabeli Pajuelo.

The "Festival Arte y Comunidad" included the participation of artists from Ecuador, Spain, Brazil, Argentina and Mexico. The Peruvian groups that participated were: Las Crías, Òpalo Teatro, Ensamble, Proyecto 2121, Tárbol Teatro de Títeres and the artists: Ángel Demonio, Christian Olivares and Augusto Montero.

Two hundred artists joined the inauguration of the Festival that started with a special visitor from Ayacucho, the maestro José Montoya, who made an offer to the Mother Earth (Pachamama) by a traditional ceremony called: Pago a la Tierra

Throughout the days, the Festival had the support of the community and its leaders who secure the safety of the public spaces and also helped with the promotion of all the activities.

There were different artistic activities prepared, for children and adults. While they enjoyed the presentations, the foreign artists stayed with families and were able to spend time with the community members. They spent time with the families, enjoyed conversations and ate deliciously (as it is typical in our beloved country), they were able to try the pachamanca, and learned from the making process of it - a collective one that include different rituals.

If you want to read more about the activities, you can check the PDF attached (in Spanish) to this message and find pictures and descriptions of the events.

I want to finish the message by thanking you for your participation on this brief fundraiser. All the money was used to covered food and transportation for the international artists.

Please, don't forget to keep supporting the efforts of our partners from Pukllay. We, at Nexos Comunitarios, are very pleased to use this platform to raise money for this great initiative.

With gratitude,

Maricarmen
