The state of emergency caused by the coronavirus has affected various sectors of the economy and different segments of society, including women and LGBT people. Especially those who worked for a daily wage were affected the most, they were deprived of their daily income and found themselves in a difficult situation.
These days, more than ever, violations of labor rights have hit hard people working in the service sector. Some of them did not have a contract with the employer, while others did not receive their paid time off or were sent on unpaid leave, and some even terminated the contract without taking into account the procedure established by law.
Arousyag campaign which is a brainchild of a few UK-based individuals unites two human rights charities, the Women's Resource Center (WRC) & Pink Armenia (Pink) helped to fundraise for vulnerable people to support their financial needs to survive the crisis and to receive professional support, including psychological, social and legal assistance.
The amount raising during the fundraising will be distributed equally among WRC and Pink to continue the work with women and LGBT people. More details about upcoming works will be presented on organizations' websites and pages on social media.
Your contribution will go a long way in creating a kinder society. We thank you.
