Dear Donors,
Through your donations to the Aria Project for Afghanistan, you have continued to help keep families healthy, together, and in their homes. Your kindness and generosity keep these people fed and able to find hope in their lives. At some point I would like to share with you all of my students’ personalities and their questions about life, love, American culture, and their comments of gratitude.
Our Work Over The Last Three Months:
In the recent period we have continued to assist several families with regular rent and food expenses, both vital to their survival. In addition it seems the last three months have been very much about medical and dental care for multiple people. Aria funds have supported five dental appointments including getting replacement fillings, crowns and an extraction. Tooth decay is a problem for some members of the families we support due to eating sugar cubes every day while drinking tea. Now, one of these individuals and I sign off on our phone calls by saying in unison, “New plan, new oxygen, no sugar!”
We have also provided other forms of healthcare in the last few months. There were two surgeries for a finger bite by a wild dog for one uncle who had to be transported from his village into Kabul by bus. Another uncle in a family we support was able to return home after a hospital stay for which I could only deduce was complications in speech and comprehension due to a stroke or a possible brain tumor. And his nephew, one of my students, had to go to the doctor for what turned out to be pneumonia.
Finally, money has been sent for Eid which has been used for (bus) travel expenses and family meals to celebrate the end of their fasting through Ramadan.
Gratitude: I want to thank each and every person who has contributed to this effort financially or by passing it on to others for awareness. Words hardly begin to express the appreciation I have for your donations and the compassion you’ve shown for the people of Afghanistan, and I especially thank you for the work you have allowed me to do this past year to help multiple families I know personally – work I certainly hope to continue.
Sincerely,
Angela
