March report

By Anabella Maudet | Executive Director

Dear Donors,

While we continue fundraising to support the participation of the Argentinian team in the 31st Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot to be held in Viena, from March 22 to 28, I am thrilled to share with you the remarkable achievements of the team designated by the Faculty of Law of the University of Buenos Aires at the XI Edition of the International Investment Arbitration Competition held at the American University Washington College of Law, Washington, D.C.

The team -comprised of María Celina Ubellart, Martín López Saubidet, Bautista Sartori, and Juan Ignacio Goya-  was the runner-up of this prestigious moot competition, marking a significant milestone for the Faculty of Law of the University of Buenos Aires. Months of diligent preparation, including participation in seminars blending theoretical knowledge with oratory practice, laid the groundwork for this accomplishment.

We thank all donors who generously supported our participation in the competition, enabling us to cover the associated expenses. Your contributions were instrumental in facilitating this invaluable learning experience.

I am happy to share a letter from Martin Lopez Saubidet.

I had the honor of representing the University of Buenos Aires at the XI Edition of the Foreign Direct Investment Moot Competition, co-organized by  American University Washington College of Law, and Universidad Externado de Colombia (UEC), held in Washington D.C. from March 11th to 15th at the American University Washington College of Law.

We reached the final of the Moot, marking UBA's first time at this stage. Special thanks to our coaches Guillermo Argerich, Juan Jorge, Fernando Alemany,  Francisco J. da Silva Esteves, Martin Vainstein, Belén María Ibañez, Gonzalo Javier Vazquez, Aurelia Grigera, and Francisco Ferrer Arroyo for their invaluable support.

To my teammates, Juan Ignacio Goya, Maria Celina Ubellart, and Juan Ignacio Bautista Sartori: thank you for your dedication throughout our preparation for MEL v. Aldovia.

Lastly, I want to thank Facultad de Derecho, Universidad de Buenos Aires, for enabling our participation in this significant international competition,  fundación Integrar, and Juan Ignacio Sánchez Alcazar for helping with fundraising.

Martin López Saubidet
