This project will provide an emergency aid to internally displaced persons (IDPS) who have been displaced from Wolega and are currently taking refuge in DebreBirhan & Drought affected people in Wag Himra Zone in Amhara and Borena in Oromia Region. Without recovering from the damage caused by the war in Northern Ethiopia, unfortunately there are more than 37,000 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPS) in need of assistance in Debre Birhan who have not received any humanitarian assistance yet.
There are currently more than 37,000 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPS) in need of assistance in Debre Birhan who have not received any humanitarian assistance yet due to the lack of actors with the capacity to assist them. The IDPs & drought affected people include children, expectant & lactating mothers & elders who need immediate assistance. 600,00 animals have died in Borena & 70,000 people are starving in Waghmra because of the shortage of Food, shelter, Medical, water & animal fodder.
We will provide food, meal & shelter assitance to the most vulnerable of these internally displaced persons to alleviate their suffering and fodder & for animals. By providing emergency food assistance, life-saving food, medical and hygiene supplies, nutrition rations to children and women, reproductive health kits, dignity kits water and sanitation supplies, washing materials, water tanks, hygiene kits etc.
The activities aim to directly reduce the vulnerability and alleviate the suffering of people who are affected by conflict & drought for those who are in Debre-Birhan, Waghmra & Borena. In all, the proposed intervention not only saves lives and livelihoods but also will significantly contribute to the physical and mental wellbeing of crisis-affected People & their animals. This life-saving work creates an opportunity for ctors to think & work together to solve the problems in a sustaible way.
