In wake of the Coronavirus pandemic, Las Marias is worried about vulnerable people who may have to self-isolate or quarantine, especially those who do not have family nearby. We want to help them, and this project was designed for that purpose specifically. Accordingly, we have decided to prepare and distribute a weekly Aid Box which will contain essential survival items. To distribute 50 aid boxes for 26 weeks, we estimate a total cost of 39,407 (or US$48,500). Project ends October 11, 2020.
The New Road in Ascot has about 50 homes (from a total of over 150) with elderly or vulnerable people who are self-isolating and are afraid to leave their homes even for essential purchases. Las Marias reached out to people by putting out flyers/ads at homes along New Road. The response we received was overwhelming. Accordingly, we have decided to prepare and distribute a weekly Aid Box which will contain essential survival items.
The project will greatly reduce the chance of contracting the deadly Coronavirus infection among the elderly and vulnerable population of Ascot, who are high-risk candidates for such infection. The project will reduce their need to run errands over the next 6 months. Therefore, the project will eliminate of reduce the chances of COVID-related deaths and positive cases among the beneficiaries of this program and on New Road, Ascot, in general. It will reduce chances of community transmission.
The main outcomes that we are targeting: Zero COVID-related deaths among the beneficiaries of this program and on New Road, Ascot, in general.
