We close a year by thanking each of the people who come to Ahava Home, for the purpose that exists in each of them, from the youngest to the oldest. Just as we celebrate the arrival of each user, we also celebrate when they successfully conclude their shelter program at Ahava, which is why with joy in our hearts we want to share a fragment of the progress of one of our users whom we will call “Andrea”.
Andrea, being an 18-year-old girl, had gone through many things in her life since she was little and after a whole process, she came to us to receive care, with the aim of beginning to heal her emotional wounds that were reflected in many destructive thoughts and behaviors that hurt her. She wanted to think and feel different, but the weight of her story made her feel that she would not achieve it. However, she made an effort, and even though there was a struggle in her heart, she managed to achieve her goal within the refuge. The entire team is so proud of this girl and her emotional progress. When the indicated time was reached, she graduated from the program. All staff members rejoiced with her and valued her merit. We will not forget that we witnessed how his lament was transformed into joy, and although being here was only the beginning of her healing, we trust that she would achieve much more.
During this year 2023, 18 people benefited from the Refuge program specifically, the stories are so particular that we always have a lot to learn and for security reasons we cannot talk about each story since many are in legal proceedings but rest assured that Your donations are a blessing to be able to operate this place and provide everything from basic needs to special care in physical, mental, legal and spiritual health, among other needs such as plane tickets to safely transport the victims and procedures before the specialized Prosecutor's Offices etc.
The majority of users this year were cases that we worked on from the strategies for their rescue to their safe haven and in many of them we collaborated with other civil organizations and Government authorities. This reminds us that we need many to rescue, care for and follow up on survivors of human trafficking for sexual exploitation.
The work has been hard, but it is always worth serving in this place
Thanks again, God bless you for every donation.
