Cosma works with VCs to receive improved seeds on behalf of farmers to plant and improve the yields and can pay back in kind through returning 10 kg of harvest for every kg of improved seeds received for planting. Cosma has negotiated with seed companies to provide tested and certified seeds may not be otherwise cheap and accessible to farmers throughout the country.
First season of 2024 Cosma supplied160 kilograms of maize seeds with revolving maize seed totaling to 160 Kgs of high quality seeds, and The VC group executives took responsibility to profile their farmers, who receive seeds in a particular pre-season and guarantee to collect harvests from members.
However, The season was characterized by climatic challenges- severe drought, where low rainfall was received leading to no yields. Thus a need to generate climate smart data and stock a mobile irrigation system and insurance models to guard against drought effects an increase resilience of farmers
