Florence runs a catering service business, she is 35 years of age a single mother with five children, and she belongs to Nkobazambogo village cooperative which received a credit facility from Cosma after experiencing financial collapse due to limited savings arising out of COVID constraints. At the time of borrowing from Cosma, a number of members like Florence were no longer in business- Florence was almost losing her catering service assets to her creditors. She was short of business and she had not cleared payment for her caterings utensils like saucepans, plates and chairs which she uses in her business. She had cash need of 500,000/-($140) to clear her assets. When the group borrowed from the Cosma they lent to her to clear her creditors. The group is composed of young women like Florence who are creatively engaged in small businesses to generate livelihood and support for their families. Such small businesses include backyard vegetable gardens, trading in coffee, livestock farming (piggery and chicken) and events services. Cosma commits to supporting such small women led business through strengthening functionality of Village cooperatives in Uganda.
