Since April of this year, over 1,600 men, women, and children in Nepal have received the food and supplies they need to survive during the COVID-19 pandemic. Your support has been a literal lifeline–ensuring that families, who live life on the brink under the best of circumstances–have food to eat.
In addition to distributing food and cleaning supplies, your support has enabled our teachers in Nepal to create amazing at-home learning kits for students. The schools in our communities have been unable to pivot to virtual learning, so these kits provide a variety of fun, hands-on activities to keep kids learning; as well as stories, coloring pages, and journal prompts that help students process the emotional trauma of the pandemic.
A lot of things have changed this year, but access to health care for our students is not one of them. Our mid-year health camp in July ensured our students have the care they need to stay healthy in every way, despite the pandemic
Finally, we're so excited to announce the launch of our SuMa Women's Councils! An extension of our Women’s Literacy program, the goal of the Councils is to build leadership skills of members, while providing them a platform to identify and address issues that impede the progress of women and girls in their communities. We can’t wait to see how the Councils grow and develop over time!
As always, thank you for your support of Sunsar Maya and the communities we serve. The learning kits, the Councils, the food and supplies–none of it would be possible without your support!
