Dear friends,
We are so grateful for your support, which helped our partners at Puckllay bring Aventuras en los Andes Mágicos to life. Last year, this beautiful theater production, an adaptation of El Cholito en los Andes Mágicos by Óscar Colchado Lucio, was the result of nearly three years of work with young artists from Lomas de Carabayllo—a community where more than half the population is under 18.
The play was performed in four shows at the Auditorio del Colegio San Agustín (July 28–29 and August 3–4), with over 500 people in the audience. It was later staged at the Teatro del Grupo Cultural Yuyachkani (September 7–8), where approximately 200 more people attended. The journey doesn’t stop there—the production is set to be performed in Nueva Jerusalén, Lomas de Carabayllo, and in 2025 at the Teatro de la Alianza Francesa de Miraflores. It has also been invited to participate in the Festival Internacional para las Infancias y Adolescencias (FESTTIN) in Chile.
Your support made a real difference. Thanks to the funds raised, Nexos Comunitarios helped cover transportation costs so that the young performers could travel from Lomas de Carabayllo to Lima for rehearsals and performances. The funding also contributed to costumes (shoes for the characters), theater rentals, and public reception managementfor the Lima shows.
Bringing this story to the stage was about much more than just a play—it was about young people claiming their voices, expressing their creativity, and showing the power of community.
