Thank you very much for support Foster to plant 4000 trees in Merida! A short time has passed since we achieved our goal to start this reforestation project. We have some updates to share with you:
In May we started the production of the 4000 trees within our nursery. With your donation we acquired plant bags and ground to boost our production through the following techniques: seedbeds, cuttings, and raising seedlings. Although our nursery does not have enough personal to secure the production process, we counted with the help of 15 volunteers in this period that were crucial to aim our results.
In June we begin our reforestation process with the help of the Merida Town Hall. We planted 2,500 trees in “Paseo Henequenes”, a lineal green area that was recently developed inside the city. To secure the health of our volunteers due to COVID had rocketed on that month, the park and garden staff of the Town Hall executed the reforestation. These plantations were developed in the framework of the annual forest crusade. It is important to highlight that the reforested area have an irrigation system to ensure the survival and correct growth of the planted trees.
We still have 1,500 trees to produce and plant; however, we are sure to did the rest quit soon.
Our Kanan Kab team is forever greatful for your support!
