Our sports development programs in the village of Ayenya have been running effectively for the last few months, even though we have been experiencing a couple of challenges that we hope to solve with time. Through donations and our local partnerships, we have completed the refurbished four-classroom block, which will now serve over 50 junior high school students and teachers to learn and teach in a conducive and safe space. The refurbished classroom block was outdoor-ed on December 23, 2023.
Join us to congratulate the twenty-one students at the Ayenya D/A Basic School who wrote the 2023 Basic Education Certificate Examination, which ended in November last year. Out of them, fourteen are active participants in our weekly sports for development programs in the village. Thankfully, all of them gained admission into secondary school, and through your continuous support, we have been able to support them financially based on their respective assistance requests. More exciting news: in January, we had one of our secondary school graduates from our village program in 2023 gain admission into the Accra Technical University (ATU), and we have been able to assist him with his fees for accommodation and also part of his tuition fees. We are still supporting those who are currently in school and providing assistance to the young people, single teenage mothers, and their children in the community.
We are steadily getting better, and we have been able to solve some of the issues we mentioned earlier in our last report. We also recently received a donation of sneakers and football boots, and now we are hoping to receive more with time so our student athletes can play sports effectively without having to worry about being injured due to a lack of proper footwear.
We want to take this opportunity to once again thank all our donors for their continuous support, and we are really looking forward to sharing more exciting updates with you in the next quarter.
