This particular initiative of enjuba aims to print and deliver 20,000 books to reach over 60,000 children in rural Uganda
Due to COVID-19 all schools in Uganda were shut down in March and have not been able to reopen. Unfortunately, millions of children in rural Uganda have not had a chance to continue learning as they have no access to electricity and computers.
We plan to deliver locally relevant, beautifully illustrated books to children across the country. Through this initiative, we will be providing valuable and meaningful reading materials and encouraging story books to keep these children interested in learning and looking forward to getting back to school.
According to the World Bank, 83% of children in Uganda below 10 years cannot read and comprehend. Our reading efforts are aimed at helping these children fall in love with books, LEARN to READ so they can READ to LEARN. Once this foundational skill of reading is mastered, the children will be able to significantly improve their literacy, complete school and be set on a trajectory for success. They will grow into responsible citizens, authentic leaders and credible change agents.
