A conservation story by Richard
My name is Richard, I am a host at Somalisa, and I live in Dete, Hwange. We used to have incidents in our community of lions attacking our livestock. Often, you would hear stories in the village of members of the community who lost cattle and goats. Things were terrible for the community and conservation, because the community would retaliate by killing animals with snares.
African Bush Camps Foundation intervened by erecting bomas that cover the cattle kraal so the lions cannot see the livestock inside. Your donation towards lion bomas for Dete is keeping our livestock safe and has reduced the human-wildlife conflict in Dete. These efforts are helping to teach my community that we can live peacefully while caring for wildlife and caring for our livestock.
We are delighted that more families in Hwange will receive lion bomas this year and be empowered to co-exist with wildlife.
With your help, we erected 28 lion bomas in 2024 to keep the communities' livestock safe. You can partner with us in 2025 to support more communities with lion bomas.
