Emmanuel is a 2nd-year Scholar from Chad, studying Biology, Earth, and Life Science at the Université de Picardie Jules Verne in Amiens, France.
Emmanuel is fond of community service and contributing to others, paying forward the kindness he receives.
"Last year,” he said, “I was involved in AFEV (Association de la Fondation étudiante pour la Ville) Amiens, where I was mentoring a young college student through help with homework, methodology, reading, educational games, etc. to fight against educational inequalities in my host city. This year, it's time for new challenges. I volunteer at Opération étudiants Sans Faim, a collective that helps students by distributing food and hygiene baskets and assisting with formalities and psychological support. My missions for the moment are to represent and defend the interests of the collective with my university, to obtain subsidies for the organized activities, and to participate in the distributions collected every other Friday. I will soon pursue training on behalf of the collective in grant application, project pitch, and association coordination.”
Emmanuel wants to fight food insecurity and poverty in Africa, especially in his home country of Chad. He aims to help Sub-Saharan Africa by improving its capacity for agricultural production, conservation, and processing of agricultural products.
" ‘Service to the community is also service to oneself. It is about improving one's life and making others benefit from it.’ This quote by Thione Niang gives all the reasons for my motivation to help my community. Beyond my desire to actively contribute to the fight for food security in Africa, I wish to support the young people of my community to realize their projects. This is why I pursue multiple extra-curricular pieces of training and get involved in associations, to develop transversal skills and expand my professional network."
