We are so excited to share with you all the things that we are doing with the support of the annual fund.
MP has partnered with CapeCares to bring a medical and dental brigade to El Rodeito, to serve El Rodeito and the nearby communities. The medical and dental brigade is scheduled April 18th and April 19th. We will be using the elementary school classrooms (after school) for this. We will have 2 doctors treating patients and providing medications for 3 months. Additionally, we will have a dentist doing extractions. The goal of the medical brigade is to help the elderly, people with disabilities, and new moms that would struggle making the trip to Los Encinitos where they would be hosting another brigade for the whole week. This will allow roughly for 40 patients to be seen for medical treatment and 120 extractions, right in their local community.
Through our partnership with CapeCares we will be providing a wheelchair to be used by a member of the community and hopefully as he recuperates and no longer needs it, the community leaders will lend it to someone else in need.
We are currently working on one more donation trip in San Pedro Sula and nearby villages! We will be bridging gently used clothing, shoes, bedding, etc to families that lost their homes due to the hurricanes and continued flooding.
Mayor Potencial is excited to continue our partnership with Cinco Books. We recently provided books, meals, and read stories to the children in need in Aldea SOS. This September we will be providing a Little Free Library for more than 70 children in this village. In Honduras, there are only a handful of public libraries so this will be a monumental gift for the children. The goal is to do this for children's day in September. As usual we will be providing more books and meals to all the children.
We are launching some exciting local classes to serve Tompkins and Cortland counties! We will be having art class, crochet class, and workshops on recycling and upcycling clothing and other items etc.
Finally, we will be launching the campaign to continue the construction of the public hospital in El Rodeito. The closest hospitals right now are 3 and 4 hours away. It is a very difficult journey given the state of the roads. We are partnering with CapeCares and other organizations to make this dream a reality!
None of this would be possible without your generous support.
Please be sure to join us for "Little by Little" where your donations will be matched at 50% (up to $50 donations).
