Breaking Barriers: More Girls Find Hope at Tumaini

By Ezekiel Kassanga | Project Leader

A powerful wave of hope is sweeping through Tumaini! When the 2025 academic year began in January, Tumaini witnessed a remarkable surge in enrollment, with 55 girls joining the school. This overwhelming response is a testament to Tumaini’s growing reputation as a stigma-free, supportive, and academically excellent institution that gives young mothers and vulnerable girls a second chance at education.

Word has spread far and wide about Tumaini’s modern learning environment, competent teachers, and digital skills integration, all of which empower our students to excel. Families and communities now recognize Tumaini as a place where girls are not only welcomed without judgment but also nurtured to thrive academically. As a result, more girls than ever are eager to be part of this life-changing opportunity.

However, we now face a pressing challenge; while our classrooms can accommodate up to 180 students, our current dormitory has reached full capacity at 55 girls. At Tumaini, we strongly believe that for our students to succeed, they need a secure and supportive living environment on campus. Many more girls remain on the waiting list, hopeful for a chance to join, yet unable due to the limited accommodation.

In response, we have begun constructing a new dormitory that will provide a safe home for 56 more students, doubling the number of girls who can access quality education at Tumaini. But we need your support to complete it.

We urgently require funds to roof, finish, and furnish the dormitory including beds, lockers, and other essentials. With your generosity, we can open doors for more girls, ensuring they get the education and future they deserve.

With gratitude

Ezekiel
