Club de Ninos y Ninas in San Luis Potosi, works with vulnerable kids that need a safe space to grow and develop all their potential. We provide tuition in homework, to avoid school desertion, we also have fun activities like arts (dance, paintings, music) and sports (basquet, volley ball, gymnastics, tae kwondo and soccer) for our members that come from the sorrounding communities and are often children of working mothers that woul be left alone at home or in the streets without the Club.
Violence, hunger, poverty and street gangs are felt around the communities we tend to. The kids need a safe space to grow while their parents, frequently single mothers, go to work. The children that stay in the streets are targets for the drug dealers and traffickers. The Club gives them a safe space to thrive.
We work to develop the full potential of the kids, not only by the fun activities and workshops but throughout a horizontal and continued enforcement of soft skills and values like: honesty, friendship, loyalty, respect, leadership, empathy, sustainability, etc.
We have a big problem of school desertion in Mexico, it starts in middle school and grows through the final years of basic education. Very few poor kids make it to College. With the Club support we aim to reduce desertion and we try to keep the kids in school until at least they graduate form high school. This will open the opportunities to grow in life.
