We just completed our end of semester assessment with the grade school students at the Model School and we’re so excited about their progress.
There are 116 students currently enrolled ranging from kindergarteners to sixth graders.
At the start of the semester 71% of the grade school students could recognize letters but could not read words. Just one semester in, 31% of the students progressed into the next levels of reading either words or paragraphs.
There were only 2% of students enrolled at the beginning of the school year who could read a short story and answer comprehension questions. Now 16% of students have achieved this level of reading proficiency!
This is tremendous progress and we’re working harder than ever to ensure the students continue making rapid improvements in their reading skills so they can be successful in school and beyond.
With your support these students are participating in the best educational program in the area. Thank you for contributing to this important effort.
With immense gratitude,
Saundra
