Luis is an 11 year old student in our Saturday Montessori class. He dropped out of school years ago due to a blood clotting disorder. He lives with his family in a 2 room mudbrick house. Like many of our studens, Luis' family eats beans and tortillas for most meals. This project will not only teach Luis and 19 of his classmates how to grow broccoli, carrots, radishes, cucumbers, and lettuce, but will also provide them with the veggies they are growing.
This project will reduce undernurishment among our students.
Students will learn to grow their own veggies and how to use them to prepare nutritional meals and snacks.
This school garden program will enrich student lives by helping them value nutritious vegetables as well as will empower them with the knowledge of learning to grow and prepare their own healthy foods in an affordable manner.
