The vulnerable Angolan Colobus monkey, known for their striking appearance and vital role in the ecosystem, together with four other species of the area are facing increasing threats from habitat loss, electrocution, poaching, and illegal trade. This campaign aims to raise USD 7,000 to support the rescue, rehabilitation, and safe release of them. Funds raised will be used to provide medical care, maintain rehabilitation enclosures, and support long-term recovery.
The Angolan Colobus monkey and other primates are frequently victims of human activities, leaving them injured, orphaned, or displaced. These vulnerable animals require specialized medical care and rehabilitation to ensure they can be safely returned to the wild. Limited resources and a lack of infrastructure often hinder the capacity to care for and release these monkeys back into their natural environment. The challenge is to raise enough funding to provide support for their rehabilitation.
With your support, we can directly address these challenges by providing urgent medical care and rehabilitation to injured, orphaned monkeys. Soft release efforts back into the wild and monitoring for one year to ensure they can reintegrate into their natural habitat. We also need help funding the transportation and fuel needed for the emergency rescue vehicles which is critical for attending the emergency calls promptly. You can contribute to the rescue, recovery, and future of Colobus monkeys
By continuing reforestation activities this will ensure stability of all primate populations in Diani by restoring the local habitat and in return reduce human primate conflict, which is the main cause of primate mortality. In addition, a much needed boost will ensure the center can continue its ongoing care and rehabilitation of monkeys who have been rescued and are receiving the essential care that will see them return to the wild.
