Cesia is a brave little 8-year old girl that thanks to you, is able to walk again like before: She can play with the toys in the garden, run around and play hide and seek with her three sisters. She was tremendously happy when we told her that we are able to give her a new prosthesis so that she will be able to walk again without any pain. We directly went to a specialized orthopedist to measure her feet and to build a personalized prosthesis for her.
As you probably have read in the description of the project, Cesia lost everything in the accident: While her mum was outside washing clothes, a candle fell down that she had lit as they do not have any electricity. Cesia and her 3 sisters were at home when the fire started and all of them suffered from severe burns. Thanks to ANIQUEM and to all of our donors, they are able to receive their necessary treatments such as physiotherapy, occupational therapy, their compressive garments and their psychological treatment here in ANIQUEM. Furthermore, we organize activities for the whole family so that they can be reintegrated into the society.
Cesia would like to say a few sentences on her own to thank you as well (we translated it for you):
¡Muchas gracias! Thank you for donating for my prosthesis. I am very happy that I can play again like before; I can almost beat my sisters when we run as fast as we can in the garden. Many children at school were saying mean things to me and asked me why I walk so strange or why my face has scars. But I just don´t talk back to them until they get tired and walk away. I am always happy when I go to ANIQUEM because they have toys, I can paint, play in the garden and everyone is really nice to me. The therapies help me feel better, I especially like the massages and the best thing is my new prosthesis. Thank you so much!!
I met Cesia when I started working here in ANIQUEM and from the beginning she was one of my favorites (although I shouldn´t be having favorites of course). I first didn´t know that Cesia lost her foot in the accident but I could notice her walking differently. When she told me that it often really hurts for her as her prosthesis didn´t fit well, I felt really sad. But that makes me even happier now when I see her with her new prosthesis running around in the garden.
¡¡Thank you so much again for helping Cesia to walk again!!
Besides Cesia, there are other kids that urgently need our help, just like the little Jose - click on the link below to read his story. Thank you so much and have great day!
